Catalina Island Facts:

During World War II, the island was closed to tourists and used for military training facilities. Catalina's steamships were expropriated for use as troop transports, the U.S. Maritime Service set up a training facility in Avalon, the Coast Guard had training at Two Harbors, the Army Signal Corp maintained a radar station in the interior, and the Office of Strategic Services (a precursor to the CIA) did training at Toyon Bay. Emerald Bay, on the Island's west end was used by the Navy.

Catalina Classic Cruises operates from the Queen Mary Port
in Long Beach. We are located at 1046 Queens Highway,
right next to the Queen Mary.








Directions:

Take the Long Beach (710) Freeway south. Follow the signs to the Queen Mary, and enter the Queen Mary parking lot. Park and go to the Catalina Classic Cruises office, located at the Catalina Express terminal. 

If you are coming from San Pedro, cross the Vincent Thomas Bridge to downtown Long Beach (W. Ocean Blvd.). Turn right on Queensway, cross the Queensway Bridge, and follow the signs to the Queen Mary. Enter the Queen Mary parking lot, park and go to the Catalina Classic Cruises office, located at the Catalina Express terminal.

Parking rate is $15.00 per day (first 30 min. free)
