Did you know?

About 400 species of native plants grow on the island. Six species, subspecies or varieties are endemic and can be found only on Catalina Island. These plants are: Catalina manzanita (Arctostaphylos catalinae); Catalina mahogany (Cercocarpus traskiae); Catalina dudleya (Dudleya hassei); St. Catherine’s lace (Eriogonum giganteum var. giganteum); Santa Catalina bedstraw (Galium catalinense ssp. catalinense); and Santa Catalina Island ironwood (Lyonothamnus floribundus ssp. floribundus).

These plants may be seen at the island's Wrigley Memorial & Botanical Gardens.

Ristorante Villa Portofino

Steve's Steak House

Steve’s is open 7 days a week and has a full bar. Reservations are accepted, and group rates are available for lunch and dinner. Located at 417 Crescent Ave. 310-510-0333.


Armstrong's Fish Market

Unless you’ve caught one yourself, Armstrong’s offers the only fresh seafood dining in Avalon Bay. They feature mesquite broiled Seafood, Steaks and Chicken, Fresh Sashimi, Clams, Oysters, Mussels and Crab Cakes, and also have a Full bar. Located at 306 Crescent Ave. 310-510-0113.


Descanso Beach Club

This is an oceanfront bar and grill on Avalon’s premier beach. They also have the only cocktail & food service on the beach. 310-510-7410


Joe's Place

Where Islander’s and tourists can meet to enjoy good food and friendly service at family prices. Serves pancakes, hamburgers, or full dinners. Located at the foot of the Green Pleasure Pier. 310-510-0491
